Beran Environmental Services has been involved in the completion of numerous successful coal and non-coal mine permit applications. Tasks in these applications include wetland delineation, threatened and endangered species correspondence, benthic macroinvertebrate sampling, botanical surveys for threatened and endangered species, and stream mitigation design and monitoring. In addition, personnel at Beran Environmental Services have experience in presentations at public hearings regarding mine permit applications.
In Pennsylvania, pre-Surface Mining Reclamation Act coal and non-coal mining had often left the state with adverse environmental consequences, including negatively impacting streams, sterile piles of mine refuse, and dangerous highwalls. Through the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection's Growing Greener Grant and other programs, organizations are working to restore these areas.
